Sharon Van Hoek
Clerk of the Vestry

Sharon is a transplanted New Englander, who moved to Jacksonville 20 years ago with her late husband, and joined St. Andrew’s shortly thereafter.

Sharon has been a Lector for many years, and has also served as an Usher. For 15 years she volunteered weekly in the church office. She assisted Father Turk with correspondance until his retirement, and then worked on such projects as coordinating computerized records with the church Registers. She currently serves as the secretary for the St. Andrew’s Church Foundation.

Sharon is a retired educator, with 48 years of experience in K-12 and college classrooms as teacher, supervisor, assistant to superintendent and system-wide administrator. She taught for several years as a part-time faculty member in the College of Education at UNF. Sharon holds degrees from Wellesley College (BA), Trinity College (MA) and the University of Connecticut (Ph.D). 

Sharon plays an active role in the condominium complex where she lives, serving as Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee and leading a monthly book discussion group. Leisure interests include knitting/crocheting for the homeless, reading and travel.
