Bill Peters
Interim Organist

Bill Peters, a native Pennsylvanian, began his study of piano at age 8 and of the organ at age 14. He began his first organist/choirmaster position in his home town at age 15 and has now been playing regularly for 65 years. He holds a BS in MusEd from Wilkes University in PA and an MM in organ performance from Indiana University with one year of post graduate study at the Guilmant Organ School in New York City. During his time at IU he was associate organist to the organist/choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis. Since completing his post graduate work, he has held full time positions in Methodist, Presbyterian and Episcopal Churches, most noteworthy was 15 years spent at the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, home church of Arnold Palmer and Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood).

In 1983 Bill and his family moved to Orange Park where he became full time music director and organist at Grace Episcopal. He has also served at Good Samaritan, St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican, St. Paul's by the Sea and until 2017 at San Jose Episcopal. During 2018 he was assistant organist at Holy Family Catholic Church and has been doing regular substitute positions since the beginning of this year. In 1987, Bill was employed by Kelly's Piano & Organ Co. and concentrated on the sales of church organs, both Rodgers and Allens. The organ at St. Andrew's was, in fact, among the first Rodgers Organs that he sold, so his short term situation here is just like coming home to play an old friend!

Bill wants to thank everyone who welcomed him so cordially on his first Sunday here, May 5 and to say thank you to Father Mark and the staff for making him feel so at home. He looks forward to being with you until a permanent replacement for Tim Huber can be found.
