Albert Cherry

Al is 70 years old, and has spent his life helping others.

Al has been an Episcopalian since 1979 and first attended St. Luke’s on University Blvd. While there he became a lay-reader in 1981.  His family transferred to St.Andrew’s 23 years ago so their daughter could attend St. Andrew’s School seamlessly.  Al became a Stephen’s Minister shortly thereafter with Father Turk.  Al and his wife Bobby took care of both of their mothers through the end at home with Hospice’s help.  More recently Al took care of Bobby, who had chronic health problems herself.

Al retired from the State of Florida, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation after 25 years in 1999.  He worked with those who had run out of insurance settlements/benefits and put them back into the workforce.  Al was the go-to guy for outreach resources for clients in fourteen counties in North Florida, and he handled the majority of the statistical reports for categories of services provided, budget, caseload distribution, and Federal grants.

Al hopes now that he has fewer responsibilities in his own life that he can focus on helping our parish family members have their needs met.
